The Namib desert geology consists of sand seas near the coast, while gravel plains and scattered mountain outcrops occur further inland – we explore them all!
Desert Day Tours, based in Swakopmund, falls under The Naturalist Collection and specializes in day excursions to the Namib desert including the well sought after ‘Living Desert’ tour. Our tours are Eco-Tours and are designed to have minimal impact on the environment.
The service
We offer half-day and full-day activities around Swakopmund. We collect and drop off guests at their overnight accommodations for these activities and provide home-baked snacks and refreshing beverages. We welcome children along for the adventure. Our tours are conducted in English and information is shared in an interactive way. We believe that the best way to learn is to have FUN
The team
The Braines’ are known for their extensive knowledge in all things natural. Steve Braine has been involved with ornithology and natural history within Namibia from a very young age, contributing invaluable data to Namibian Ornithology and natural history. He has passed his ongoing enthusiasm and love for natural history to his two sons Sean and Dayne who have taken over the majority of the guiding. They are all-around naturalists and enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge.
